I wish my graphics card was fancy enough for me to play with this GPU programming stuff. I’d really like to see how well I could pull off a voxel renderer. One day I’ll upgrade past AGPx4.
I found a nifty talk by Clay Shirky about how TV is bad and should die a painful death. Okay, not really, he’s just saying we’ll move on to media that encourages interaction, like Wikipedia.
Sorry for the extreme lateness of this update, but like I’ve said before, I’m boring.
Have you seen the music video for ‘Pork and Beans’ by Weezer? No? Well here then: Pork and Beans
Sorry I can’t embed it into my post here, but they (Weezer) have requested that embedding be disabled and I’m choosing to respect that request.
I recognized most of the references in the video. That probably isn’t something to brag about, but I got a kick out of the video because of it.
I’ve received the tooling for the mini-mill and made a few cuts just for kicks. I also got the 9×20 mini-lathe, but I’ve not set that up yet.
I’m still working on learning Haskell, but I’m certain I don’t know enough math to wield it effectively. As such, I’ve begun learning Category Theory. Now my brain hurts. I mean that in the best possible way, though; I rather enjoy math to begin with, and categories are especially cool stuffs in math land. I’ll post more on that later.
Sorry for the delayed update, I completely spaced it until just this very moment.
I saw Iron Man over the weekend. Twice, actually. I’ll rant about that later, but I gotta go do stuff now.
Watch for an update in a bit.
:Update: I was going to have a lengthy whining session about toddlers, but I got over it… mostly. So the short of it is, it is hard to enjoy a movie when you have two of the most obnoxious three year old voices you can imagine yelling “WHERE IRA MAHN!?” as loud as they can right behind you through the whole movie, even when there’s nothing else on the screen but said metal clad, womanizing, alcoholic, freaking awesome super hero.
Oh well, it was worth seeing twice in the theater, and I’ll probably go for a third. What can I say? I’m a sucker for robots.
Here we are, another week into the future. Who knew time travel would be so time consuming?
When I first thought to have weekly updates, I figured I would keep all you happy readers abreast of my latest and greatest projects. As it turns out, I’m slow and boring. Fortunately I know where to find amusing videos. More on that later.
